NO ORDINARY JOY

Winnie has had a lot going on lately for her. She got a better job, which brought along a new social class and relationships, friends on a higher level of life which also meant better parties with expensive perfumes and wines! She recently got herself a beautiful house, well furnished with exotic paintings and luxurious flower pots. Her driving lessons are well advanced in a few months she'll have her nice car, and the game is just beginning! Everything seems so right. Finally, every "I" is being dotted and every "t" is being crossed and nothing could be better. Except that the emptiness in her inner man just increases by the day. She is more lonely and sometimes in the midst of those parties and loud music, she is all alone. Even more scary is her new friend Jelani. Last weekend Winnie tried opening up about that shallowness and Jelani told her she was on drugs to overcome hers. She wasn't pushy but she pretended that drugs had sorted hers out. Wi...

The Heart's Deepest Search

Stephen leaves home as early as 5:00AM, spends the whole day busy with computers and gadgets, not just satisfying his customers but researching on solutions to many business solutions. For Skila, she is a mother to twins who are toddlers, she is self-employed growing her agro-marketing company as well as a transport system for an effect transfer of foodstuff from the Zambian rural areas. Her goal is to been financially stressless in her 40s and 50s so that her twin boys could have a well supplied colleges education thereby escaping the scorching poverty in Zambia. Even though Idowu graduated with a first class degree in Economics from the University of Abuja, his situation has not been an easy one. With such a testimony, came three offers of well paying jobs. He chose one of course, but the stiff competition on this international platform has taken a toll on his mind. Idowu has extraordinary demands from his company that is basically profit crazy and neither understands nor...

RIGHTLY PACKED GOSPEL MESSAGE

The ministry of Jesus is very unique in many ways. Not just because He is God, but because of its  extraordinary harmony and effectiveness. This ministry is one that started with not only illiterates, but ignorant men. They were not educated. They did not belong to the priesthood of Aaron, so concerning the Law, they were ignorant men. None of them was idle. Everyone had to give up something. Some gave up generational occupation, some gave up their only means of livelihood most certainly, all gave up their families and the ambitions of youth. It cost everyone something that defined them, to follow Jesus. Another feature of this ministry was that there was no promise of renumeration. Jesus never promised any of his disciples wages or allowances. There was no payroll. It was an odd call. A call to work without a guarantee of financial benefit. None of them was expecting a prestigious position or an award. The call was to give up everything and just follow. They were...

THE SPIRIT OF COMPASSION

Christianity is the only faith born out of compassion. Any effort that can be made in sharing the gospel with the unsaved that is neither born out of compasion nor driven by the spirit of compassion is void of power and influence. The compassionate heart of the witness for Jesus dissolves the hardened heart of the rebellious. All religions are the effort of man to find God. However, the Christian life is God reaching down to man. God saw that man was lost, desperate and helpless and He initiated an effort to redeem man. This act of his love is totally unsolicited. We didn't ask him to do it. We didn't deserve it because of good works. God in his infinite mercies planned and orchestrated. John 3:16  For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. NIV Although Jesus Christ our Lord was Jewish by ancestry, He is root and founder of the Christian faith. Jesus came and died for all m...

THE YOUTH VOLT, TO BRIDLE OR UNBRIDLE?

There is a higher calling and a heavenly bidding upon our generation today. What will we do about it? Proverbs 20:29 says,  "The glory of young men is their strength, gray hair the splendor of the old." NIV The youth is a well achitectured schematics and an extraordinary framework possessing a volcanic eruption that sets man apart from all other creatures. Even in the different stages of man's short sojourn on earth, the ages between 16 and 50 are considered the most effective, especially in sheer energy, zest and brute intellectual force. Nations, corporations, civil service framework worldwide, military recruitments as well as the corporate world selects and reinforce their youth stock for maximum fruitfulness. The Sport world is so keen about age. This is not a modern phenomenon only. In time past, conquering kingdoms carefully select as captives of war the best crop of male and female slaves to put them in places of effective service. We see that exactly ...

The 21st Century Church

It is still staggering how theological and religious leaders are still groppling with the debate whether we should use modern music equipment in church? If it is ethical for women to wear makeup or trousers to worship services? If wealth and financial excellence are good Christian status? And recently, if high tech devices should carry Bible and religious applications? Plain stupid arguments for me. Unlike Islam, the Church is lost in the past. Singing "Give me that Old Time religion" can be emotional and move you to tears when you remember how things used to be in good old days. The Muslim brutal jihadists have done rather excellently in adapting to the changing times. Isn't it amazing that no matter how strict Europe is a free gun zone and with the strick monitoring of the movement of chemicals and acids, Islamic terrorists breakthrough and either attempt or succeed in carrying out daring terrorist missions. A decade and a half ago, it was unimaginable that large...

GOOD NEWS TO EVERYONE EVERYWHERE

I don't know for sure if there is anything necessary for life and happiness for all mankind, yet freely obtainable. Now that sounds like some spam news or an internet fraud. Is it really possible to have anything that is a necessity for free? With man, a lot of things are impossible. In fact, the first law of earthly economics is that resources are scarce. If you don't understand this law of scarce resources you will never understand economics. It is the foundation of economics. Within the human realm, there is nothing really available to all for free. Let's take a few things that God's nature gives as examples. First, take oxygen embedded in the air we breathe in our nostrils. Although it is totally given for free by God our maker, yet air has become one of the most expensive commodity. Many people in the hospital pay unimaginable money to be placed on oxygen. Years ago I had to stay with my younger pastor's wife in the Korle By Teaching Hospital, Accra ...
