EXCEPTIONAL AND EXCITING

B Y   D A V I D   P A M   M C Q U E L Truly exceptional peace I came in exhausted. Welcome daddy” the kids roared full of life. But I was cold. I looked beaten and exhausted I looked at them and tried to force a smile. Then literally dropped the laptop bag on the sofa. The excitement nosedived. “Poor kids” I thought beneath my breathe. They have no idea. There are lots of things I would rather not do. They are complicated, demanding, frustrating and excruciating. Although they turn out to be a big blessing. But hard work is hard. No debate about it. And can I add “tough”? Immediately after the morning worship with family, I rushed into the shower complaining about both the less sleep I had last night and the fact that I’m already late to this morning’s appointment. I kicked the door open, ejected myself out while adjusting the tie. I was outside with I heard the kids shooting their bye bye daddy. I did reply, but I w...

Chose Life

BY    D A V I D   P A M    M C Q U E L The obvious opposite of life is death. And no one in their right minds would be thinking about choosing death instead of life. But then, when you look closely at scriptural meaning of life, you will be perplexed that so many rightly chose death over life. I remember when Jesus was brought before Pilate. The Jewish leaders who brought him were so enraged beyond reason. They were driven by hatred so much that nothing else mattered. Luke 23:13-25 ”It was amazing that after Herod refused to condemn Jesus and he was brought back to Pilate for sentencing, the accusers, the Jewish leaders had two clear cut choices before them, Jesus the Messiah versus Barabbas, a violent murderous criminal. Pilate called together the chief priests, the rulers and the people, and said to them, “You brought me this man as one who was inciting the people to rebellion. I have examined him in your presence and have ...

THE BURDEN AND THE REWARD

D A U D A    E T H A N   Y U S U F Life is a gift. A beautiful gift from God. It is to be enjoyed, maximized and appreciated.  However, life must be shared. One phenomenon about life is this, despite its beauty and splendor, it is best enjoyed when shared. Its beauty radiates more when offered. God created Adam a perfect being, the model of mankind. However, something was lacking, something that'll beautify Adam's life. So God declared; it is not good for the man to be alone. God actually wanted someone to share from Adam's life. What did God do? He created for Adam a partner, so that they'll both share from each others lives. Have you wondered why the presence of another person in your life makes you feel happy and fulfilled? That's because you're created to relate. God intentionally created humans not to be independent, neither did God create man to be fully dependent. God created humans to be inter-dependent.  Have you ever wo...

THE LAST STEPS

By David Pam McQuel Physical death is probably the worst effect of the curse. We will love to just live together forever with loved ones. Death comes to all, the times and methods may vary but it eventually comes. Somehow the body gets tired of fighting, gets worn out and just can't support the inner man anymore. So man returns to his Maker. In my 29 years of ministry, I have had a few occasions to officiate over burial ceremonies. Most of them people I pastored other times, total strangers. Every home going ceremony differs from the other. It is called home going because man returns to his eternal home. 2Corinthians 5:5  'For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, 3 if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. 4 For we who are in this t...

Peace, The Deepest Yawning of Man's Heart

By David Pam McQuel The end of man's quest is peace. If I have money to take care of my needs, my worries, my family and my health, I will be at peace. My mind will be at rest if I am not sick. I will be at peace if I find a good paying job. When my business thrives I will be at peace. If I can afford my medications, I will be at rest. What will give me peace of mind is when my kids are married. When I'm through with my education I will have peace. When my dad's health improves I will be at rest. When my son gets off drugs and bad friends I will be at rest. I can't find peace unless this divorce is over. As long as I am in this town, I will have no peace. Unless he is in jail, my life is not safe. Unless I pay off this loan, I shall have not peace. As long as there is the threat of homelessness, how can I have peace? The fear of war breaking out takes away every drop of peace from this city. There is no peace between my daughter and I. Unemployment is the b...
