Fear No Longer in Control

By David Pam McQuel "How old are you?" "7." I was so naïve and non-chalant unaware of the grave consequences of what I have done.My eyeballs sparkled darting around as if I was innocent. We are going to take you to school and flog you in the presence of all students, the you will keep keep your class room clean for a whole three weeks. My heart sank. Take me before two hundred students and disgrace me? What I hate, in fact, I dreaded was been put to the spot. I couldn't imagine why on earth should they be so cruel to me? I just stole a java phone! I have done worst than that, albeit not caught. Now they'd shame me. Of course, except my mum says no. That was the only condition my teacher gave. Mum wouldn't mind them hanging me. She has preached a thousand sermons weekly about honour, dignity and integrity. She has told us how much she detests being shamed If only could avoid her knowing about the phone! It was done. T...

THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BIRTHDAY

By David Pam McQuel How does it feel to be forty? Catherine has been wondering for months now. A mixture of anxiety, disappointment and uncertainty has beclouded her. She keeps this to herself.  Her melancholy tortures her with disapproval. Yet she has been more fortunate that many. Counting her blessings, her inner voice chastises her for ingratitude. She wasn't raised with silverspoon but she enjoyed luxury that a lot of kids only dream of. She went to a prestigious school, dressed well for every birthday and event, had family outtings and travel for vacations. Now as an adult, she has graduated and enjoys digit monthly pay package. She is married to the most Amazing husband and has two beautiful kids. Her husband, Nkodi, her best friends have been in frenzy about the birthday. They are crossing every "t" and doting every "i" appropriately, to give the 40 gorgeous perfumed candles she deserves.  Longlife is rewarding, good health, a blesse...

A NEW TENDER HEART

By David Pam McQuel One fundamental difference between God's language, which is scriptural language and human language which is the root of modern day vocabulary is the word, Heart. And this basic word cuts across all nations and cultures. In biological terms, the heart is the organ on the left thoracic cavity with tubes connecting all parts of the body for the circulation of blood. In a layman's explanation, with an extremely accurate  coordination, through the arteries and veins, oxygenated and dioxigenated blood circulates in the body to supply oxygen, food nutrients and medicinal properties as well as evacuate waste products from the body thereby keeping the body working normally. Surprisingly, this biological heart does NOT appear in the bible. However, in Bible language the heart is the most prominent part of a man's existence. It is the centre of everything he is and does. The heart is the SPIRIT of man. Take Proverbs 4:23 Above all else, guard you...

THE GREAT HARVEST... JOIN US!!!

We at The World Missions Centre would like to appreciate our friends and partners who have chosen to follow our missions effort. To all our friends who know us personally in Nigeria, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, our friends who follow us through Facebook and follow our blog, www.worldmissionsafrica.blogspot.co.ke, thank you. We feel encouraged immensely. Our biggest outreach for 2017 at The World Missions Centre comes up 1 - 3 September 2017 in Bono, Marahouet Region, central Ivory Coast. We cannot overemphasize how important this outreach is. Bono is a sub metro but the indigenous people, the Guros are lost and insulated from the gospel and development. The community has a total population of 100,000 people with only one medical doctor, general practioner. Only one hospital, two pharmacies, 4 nurses and 3 midwives. The Guros of Bono who make up 40% of the community, have been completely insulated from the gospel by a tradition of fetishism, idolatry, demonic practices, promiscuity, po...

RECOGNIZING A READY HEART

Everybody here lies. There is the culture of selfishness. The prevailing culture is outsmarting the other guy to get a better vantage point. Rudh has struggled lately, since she got this contract. What was the source of envy for her friends and colleagues and from everyone has turned into a nightmare. Many times she has regretted ever getting the contract in the first place. That her friends lied about being happy for her is not strange, everyone does that. What was strange was their daring effort to sabotage her. The plant false stories, spread false rumours and keep valuable info from her that could make her job and life easier. There are no reliable friends here. What everyone accepts is, there are no permanent friends but permanent interests. Get what you knew at all cost, trample on anyone, step on any toe, backstab anyone standing on your way, fall and get up, whatever you do, get your plans done or end up trying. The cloud of mistrust, of self-centeredness, of p...

THE HEALTHY SPIRITUAL LIFE 2

In my previous post where the foundation for both posts was laid we established the fact that God wants Christians to live healthy spiritual lives which reflect on our been productive in the kingdom of God. I wrote, "There is a big correlation between a healthy spiritual life and productivity just like there is between a grape vine and the grape's she produces. How do you know as a Christian that you are making progress or growing? It is by the fruit you produce. Healthy spiritual growth makes us fruit-bearing Christians. Jesus passionately explained to his disciples in John 15:1-2 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful." No tree can bear quality fruits without being healthy. There the spiritual well-being of believers determines if they will reproduce at all. We realized that the Word of God is the nourish...

THE HEALTHY SPIRITUAL LIFE 1

There is a big correlation between a healthy spiritual life and productivity just like there is between a grape vine and the grape's she produces. How do you know as a Christian that you are making progress or growing? It is by the fruit you produce.  Healthy spiritual growth makes us fruit-bearing Christians. Jesus passionately explained to his disciples in John 15:1-2 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful." When Adam disobeyed God and ate the fruit of the forbidden tree, he was disconnected from God. When Jesus died, he provided us path back to re-connection. The re-connection happens when we accept Christ in our hearts.  Everyone who genuinely receives Christ is reconnected to God. Jesus explained here using the vine. He is the vine, our re-connection to Him makes us the branches.  Isn't it sweet ne...
