Sensing A Call To The Mission Field?

God calls believers to different kinds of service as it's stated in Romans 12:3 "For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. 4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully."

The church needs to teach people to find their place of service in God's kingdom. Teaching enlightens believers a lot concerning where the Lord needs us.

If we limit the options, most believers can't go beyond what they are taught. Sometimes, the urging of the Spirit comes to many believers but because their pastor never talks about the mission field, the tend to forget soon.

No matter how well people serve, if their service is not in the place God placed them,  there will not be a reward for their service. Its like a teacher giving an assignment in Chemistry but someone else replaces it with Physics. No matter how excellent you get it, you did the wrong assignment.

And then sometimes people who are not in their primary place of assignment hang around causing trouble for others who are in their place.

What do I do, if I sense a desire for the mission field?
1. Pray for God's leading

2. Make sure it is not an emotional response you made because you saw a need somewhere. Most at times, a necessity is not a calling.

3. Inform your pastor.

4. Inform your parents if they are believers.

5. Share it with trusted spiritual guides.

6. Unless it is urgent, seek ministry education and training.

7. Seek clearance from God. There must be a work from God that will serve as your anchor in times of trouble.

8. While you prepare seek clearance of important details from God. Find out if you are to under a mission board, under a church or if you are called to independent mission.

9. While you train, get involved with serving in every capacity not matter low.

10. Make contact with missionaries, and stay informed.

11. Learn an international language, and learn any skill you can.

12. Develop partners who will support you except if a mission board or a church is sending you forth.

13. Get international passports for you and your family. Get all other necessary travel documents for those going with you. Go online and find out as much about the countryyiu a

14. Learn as much as you can about your lace of assignment.

15. Check health plans, cultural differences and every thing you are not used too.

16. Don't wait to have all the money you need. Understand that walking by faith is the heart of missions.

17. Get basic food and hygienic needs.

18. Try getting a contact on ground.

20. Realize that every genuine call has some level of opposition, sometimes mild, for others fierce. Don't be discourage and don't take criticism as emnity. Some level of criticism helps you cherish the call and seek God more for clarity.

21. Don't arrive at your mission location at night except if there is no other option.

Missions is a place of Sacrifice, Humility and Service in all selflessness. You must. Master these three.Today if you hear His voice, you know the first steps to take.

God bless you on your walk with God.

THE BALANCED APPROACH TO MISSIONS

E t h a n   D a u d a   Y u s u f Am I successful in my ministry and calling? Is my success measured by the size of my worship centre, the number of my church members, the amount of tithes and offerings? Who sets the standard? Before we answer the above questions, let's consider the words of Jesus Christ in the gospel of Matthew 28. "18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen" The above scripture clearly states what Jesus Christ require from us. The mandate is to make disciples. How do we do this. Firstly, to baptize them, this symbolizes initiation into the body of Christ. The second is teaching them. Teaching does not simply mea...

LEAH SHARIBU, THE TRIUMPH OF CONVICTION IN CHRIST

By David Pam McQuel Leah Sharibu 15 Years Old's Triumph of Faith. This unfortunate captivity of Leah Sharibu is unacceptable to Christians, to Nigeria, to all true freedom loving people of the world and to the modern civilization. Azuka Onwuka's op-ed in the Nigerian Punch newspaper, The trial of Leah Sharibu, the sacrificial lamb", When the abducted Dapchi schoolgirls were returned last week by Boko Haram terrorists , a new story developed from the kidnap saga. Excluding the five dead girls that did not make it back, only one girl named Leah Sharibu was not brought back by the terrorists . The reason given was that she refused to renounce Christianity and convert to Islam . Consequently, Boko Haram members refused to release her." The BBC gave an account of the abduction. THE CHRISTMAS OPPORTUNITY

By David Pam McQuel Merry Christmas! As we all are aware, the festive season is here. No matter what your religious or theological conviction is, you certainly cannot ignore the season. So much expectations, so much preparations and so many plans. Christmas is a time of joy for so many. Especially those who affiliate with Christianity and those who look forward to making financial gain from sales. For others it is the holiday attached to it. A much anticipated time of rest and social gatherings. Among Christians, the debate will rage again as to whether Christmas is biblical or pagan, how it all started, and how serious Christians should either be involved or abstain. While many write it off as a Catholic ritual and others see it as the Roman emperor Constantine defiling a thriving Church. And others argue vehemently on the exact month of birth of Christ. Surely the theological warfare is at boiling point. There are two things we need to focus on. 1. The fact...
